t is defined by the Neretva River, which springs in the north, at an altitude of 1,095 m below the Zelengora and Lebršnik Mountains, and descends to the south to its estuary into the Adriatic Sea. From its source to the mouth it is 225 km long. Its tributaries are: Repešnica, Rakitnica, Rama, Ljuta, Lađanica, Župski Krupac, Bukovica, Bijela, Trešanica, Idbarčica, Kraljuščica, Neretvica, Ugrovača, Doljanka, Drežanka, Buna, Radobolja, Trebižat, Bregava, Krupa and Norin. The natural and geographical characteristics of this area are varied, from fertile and spacious fields, vast pastures, rivers and lakes, to centuries-old deciduous and evergreen forests, so providing abundant opportunities for life and economic development based on agricultural production, livestock breeding and wood industry. In the north of the Canton dominates moderately continental, on the mountains mountainous, and in the south Mediterranean climate. The Neretva River is the lifeline of this region. The life is intense along its coasts, and as such Neretva is one of the symbols of Herzegovina.
Herzegovina-Neretva Canton
The Herzegovina-Neretva Canton is the centre of Herzegovina and it stretches from the mountainous north to the lowland south. I
